Frequently Asked Questions

HAVE QUESTIONS? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS.

How long will your planters last?

We build our planters from Western Red Cedar — a naturally rot-resistant wood — and finish them with Shou Sugi Ban charring and protective oil. With minimal care, they’ll last 15–20+ years outdoors. No warping, no peeling, no falling apart after one season.

Are your planters easy to assemble?

Yes. Each unit comes flat-packed and connects with just 4 Allen bolts per corner. No confusing parts, no flimsy hardware. Assembly takes about 15 minutes with one included tool.

Can I expand later?

Absolutely. Our modular design lets you add on with C-wall extension kits, lattice panels, or additional planters anytime. Just bolt and grow.

What size is the standard bed?

Our flagship Liberty Bed is 4’x4′ and 30″ tall. We also offer 2’x2′ models and expansion kits. Custom sizing is available upon request.

Do your planters have drainage?

Yes. They’re elevated to prevent water pooling, and optional mesh liners improve airflow and drainage while keeping soil in place.

Will the metal siding overheat in the sun?

Not ours. We use corrugated metal that allows airflow and is available in heat-reflective or insulated finishes. Your roots stay cool and protected.

How do I keep pests out?

Each bed can be fitted with an optional gopher guard mesh on the underside. Plus, the raised height helps deter most critters.

Do you use treated wood or chemicals?

No. We use natural, sustainably sourced Western Red Cedar — no chemical treatments, no pressure-treated lumber. Safe for food, safe for soil.

Where are your planters made?

Every Liberty Jones planter is handmade in Bend, Oregon, using local materials and real joinery. No outsourced kits. Just American craftsmanship.

Do you ship?

Yes. We ship across the continental U.S. Beds arrive flat-packed with all necessary hardware and instructions. Local delivery is also available in Central Oregon.

Can I paint or customize the finish?

Definitely. We offer three wood finishes (natural, charred black, or grain reveal) and multiple metal siding options. We also do custom colors upon request — just reach out.
